Photograph Leads to 2 Arrests in Purse Theft

A man whose photograph was snapped by a passerby after he allegedly snatched a 79-year-old Anaheim woman’s purse was arrested Saturday with a reputed accomplice on suspicion of robbery.
Carlos Aviles, 18, of San Jacinto and Arnulfo Brito, 19, of Anaheim were arrested after the photo was shown on TV newscasts earlier this month. Tipsters told police that Aviles was the man in the photo.
During the July robbery, police said, the unidentified woman was knocked down in a South Brookhurst Street supermarket parking lot. She was treated for minor injuries at a hospital and released.
