Public Mourns 4 Infants as Probe Continues

Mourners laid flowers and lighted candles at an apartment building in Austria where police found the bodies of four infants -- two in a freezer and two sealed in concrete-filled buckets.
Authorities questioned the babies’ mother as they tried to piece together the events that led to the deaths in Graz, about 90 miles south of Vienna.
The woman, whose name was not released, has confessed to killing the children out of despair over financial troubles and fears of her lover leaving, investigators told the Austria Press Agency. In questioning she referred to the infants as “bloody lumps,” APA reported.
