Inglewood police shot and killed a man Sunday morning after he allegedly pointed a gun at a group of officers in an alley, police said.
The incident took place when nearby officers responded to the sounds of gunfire in the 10200 block of Woodworth Avenue shortly before 4:30 a.m. and were confronted by an armed man leaving an apartment complex, said Sgt. Gabriela Garcia. One officer fired in self-defense, she said.
The man was taken to a local hospital, where he died, Garcia said. Police recovered several weapons, including a semiautomatic rifle, and made two other unrelated arrests at the scene, Garcia added.
The names of the man and the officers involved were not released.
