Sirius chief vows fewer Stern ads

From Bloomberg News

Sirius Satellite Radio Chief Executive Mel Karmazin said morning talk-show host Howard Stern’s program will have fewer interruptions when it moves to satellite radio next year.

“Our plan is to have far fewer commercials on the Howard Stern show,” Karmazin said at the company’s annual meeting Wednesday in New York.

Stern’s current talk show, nationally syndicated by Infinity Broadcasting, runs about 20 minutes of commercials per hour and generates about $150 million in advertising revenue a year, according to April Horace, an analyst at Hoefer Arnett.
