Workers’ Comp Law Needs Different Remedy

Re: “Workers’ Comp Changes Hurting Treatment, Medical Study Finds,” Nov. 1:
I am not surprised that the study found that insurers are increasingly delaying or denying care for Californians who are injured on the job.
My colleagues and I see the same pattern of delay and denial in our offices every day. It is not right that insurance companies now decide patient treatment.
Nor is it right that healthcare professionals are being forced to spend more time dealing with workers’ comp bureaucrats in an effort to provide care for their patients, leaving less time to actually treat those who are injured.
