The ‘new’ Who?
IN Richard Cromelin’s review of the Who’s appearance at the Hollywood Bowl [“Meet the New Who, Not the Same as the Old Who,” Nov. 6], he wrote, “In a way, they’ve gone back to being the cult band they were in the U.S. before ‘Tommy.’ ”
Really? I’ve always understood “cult” to mean “outside of the mainstream.” Just turn on the TV and you can hear the band’s catalog as it seems to shamelessly shill for any advertiser with a fat checkbook.
