Re “Black isn’t enough,” Opinion, June 30
As an African American woman born in the ‘30s, I am still active on social and worldwide issues that affect not just African Americans but humanity. Erin Aubry Kaplan’s article said it all -- African Americans must think for themselves. The color of the skin makes little difference. Young-to-middle-age friends and co-workers ask: Who are you voting for, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) because she’s a woman or Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) because he’s black? My response is: My mind will be on the issues come November 2008, not on the skin color of the candidate.
