Diversity matters

Re “As a child, Obama crossed a cultural divide in Indonesia,” March 15

The singular and insular world view of George W. Bush has gotten us into the tragic circumstances we are in today. I would relish a president who has experience with more than one culture, race, religion and who has lived and traveled all over the world.

If Barack Obama prayed at a mosque as a young boy in Indonesia, attended a Catholic elementary school and is now a member of a Church of Christ congregation in Chicago, all the better. Dialogue, understanding and personal experience are the only weapons that will bring an end to a war begun with ignorance and prejudice.
