Backers of former leaders arrested

Security forces arrested dozens of supporters of Bangladesh’s two former prime ministers under emergency powers, media and relatives said.
Authorities arrested at least 40 supporters of ex-Prime Minister Sheik Hasina Wajed at a house in Sylhet city, private television station Channel i reported. They allegedly were holding an illegal meeting.
In addition, police arrested Hannan Shah, a top aide to former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, at his Dhaka home, said Shah’s youngest son, Reazul. Shah has accused the government of trying to send Zia into exile.
