* Detroit 14, at Tampa Bay 2: Gary Sheffield homered twice and drove in five runs, and Jeremy Bonderman (4-0) won his fourth straight start to help the Tigers end a four-game skid.
* at Toronto 3, New York 2: The Yankees’ losing streak reached five as Alex Rios hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. Aaron Hill stole home for the Blue Jays.
* Texas 4, at Oakland 0: After the Athletics intentionally walked Mark Teixeira to load the bases, Sammy Sosa hit a two-run single in the sixth inning to help the Rangers end a six-game skid.
* at Minnesota 9, Chicago 2: Justin Morneau homered and drove in four runs in the Twins’ fourth straight victory. Minnesota also had 16 hits for the second straight game.
* Baltimore 6, at Kansas City 2: Jeremy Guthrie (3-1) pitched seven strong innings, Ramon Hernandez drove in two runs and the Orioles handed the Royals their sixth straight loss.
* at Boston 4, Cleveland 2: Kevin Youkilis doubled and homered -- his ninth consecutive multi-hit game, the most by a Red Sox since Jim Rice in 1978.
* at Angels, 4, Seattle 1: Ervin Santana, 0-5 on the road, improved to 4-1 at Angel Stadium.
