Rutten wrongly criticizes Dobbs

IN his article “Barnum & Bailey & CNN” [Nov. 17], Tim Rutten makes a common mistake, made by many who criticize Lou Dobbs, be they politicians or interested parties to the immigration debate. Rutten refers to “his endless fulminations against immigrants and free trade.” In fact, Dobbs is always very careful to make the distinction between illegal immigrants and legal immigrants, something his detractors constantly try to blur to gain sympathy for their point of view.
There is a difference: It’s as simple as breaking the law, and not breaking the law.
