San Diego police kill sexual-assault suspect

SAN DIEGO -- A San Diego police officer Friday shot and killed a sexual-assault suspect who repeatedly crashed his vehicle into police cars in an effort to avoid arrest, officials said.
The 30-year-old man was suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a former girlfriend.
When police tried to arrest him, the man drove his car into police cars three times before being shot, officials said.
The incident began in San Marcos with the alleged kidnapping and ended in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego, a few blocks from the suspect’s home.
The police officer, whose name was not released, is a 14-year veteran of the department.
The name of the suspect was withheld pending notification of relatives.
