I’ll take the Angels’ Torii over the Dodgers’ Torre.

The Angels get Torii Hunter for $90 million for five years. No young Angels players are involved. Oh, the Dodgers signed Joe Torre to a lucrative contract and got the big spin like they were doing something. But what he is being paid is chump change in comparison to getting a high-caliber player. Let’s face it, Dodgers fans, the McCourts are on the cheap except where it is going to make them money, such as putting in new hot dog stands.

I have the utmost respect for the Angels and their management, but getting rid of Orlando Cabrera for any reason (other than maybe getting A-Rod in return) can be summed up with one word: stupid. Actually, two words might be even better: unbelievably stupid.

Tony Reagins traded the best shortstop in the American League for a mediocre pitcher and threw in $1.5 million into the pot to boot.

Give Tony Reagins an “F” for his first trade. This blunder is surpassed only by Buzzie Bavasi’s allowing Nolan Ryan to leave the Angels.
