The Lakers made a trade and it wasn’t for a second-round draft pick? And the trade shipped out the no-defense-playing Brian Cook for a defensive specialist? Are we sure Mitch Kupchak is still the GM of the Lakers?

Can we stop all this talk about trading Kobe? It’s never going to happen.
Shaquille O’Neal embarrassed the Lakers by winning a championship in Miami while the Lakers got stuck with Brian Grant’s cap-killing contract. There is no way the Lakers will now trade Kobe without gutting the other team, and Kobe won’t accept a trade to a depleted team.
So like it or not, Kobe will wear Lakers colors for at least this season and next.

David Macaray [Viewpoint, Nov. 17] wrote that Kobe is earnest, sensitive and stubborn. Well, he got one out of three right. That is, unless the definition of “sensitive” is now “egotistical twit.” The only thing that Kobe is earnest about is his own stats.
