A crash on the Harbor Freeway on Thursday left one person dead and four others injured, authorities said. Traffic was backed up through much of the morning rush hour.
Four men were heading south on the 110 Freeway just north of El Segundo Boulevard when their compact car became involved in a multiple-vehicle crash about 5:20 a.m., said D’lisa Davies, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Five people were taken to hospitals, Davies said. One of the injured died and another was in critical condition Thursday afternoon.
Authorities closed two carpool lanes after the accident, said John Seumanutafa, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
