Good Samaritans trying to stop an apparent carjacking Friday morning became victims themselves when they were hit by the car as the driver tried to flee.
Officials said the attempted carjacking occurred about 2:15 a.m. in the 800 block of North La Brea Boulevard near East Plymouth Street.
“There was a physical confrontation, a possible carjacking, and the person being attacked got back in the vehicle and tried to flee,” said Sgt. George Sanford of the Inglewood Police Department.
Of the five hit by the car, four remained in critical condition at Harbor-UCLA Hospital and UCLA Medical Center, said Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Frank Garrido.
