Canadian pedophilia suspect held in Thailand

BANGKOK, THAILAND — A Canadian schoolteacher suspected of pedophilia was arrested today in northeastern Thailand after an international manhunt that included the public release of unscrambled Internet photos believed to show his face.
Authorities said Christopher Paul Neil, 32, may have sexually abused boys in Thailand. Interpol suspects that he abused a dozen Cambodian and Vietnamese boys, some as young as 6.
The hunt for Neil began three years ago when German police discovered about 200 online photographs of a man sexually abusing children. His face was digitally obscured, but police were able to reconstruct recognizable images, and Interpol circulated those photos last week.
Three Thai youths contacted police Wednesday after seeing a photograph on television.
