* at Boston 4, Tampa Bay 1: Marco Sturm scored two goals and the Bruins won their home opener to give Coach Claude Julien a victory in his Boston debut.
* at Philadelphia 4, New Jersey 0: Martin Biron made 38 saves in his second shutout in a row. Mike Richards, Sami Kapanen, Jim Dowd and Joffrey Lupul scored for the Flyers, who won their fourth straight.
* N.Y. Islanders 5, Washington, 2: Bill Guerin scored his first three goals with the Islanders, two on the power play. Rick DiPietro made 27 saves to help New York end a two-game losing streak.
* at Ottawa 4, Montreal 3: Jason Spezza scored his first goal of the season and Nick Foligno netted the first of his career. The Senators have won six of seven.
* at Toronto 3, Florida 2: Nik Antropov’s goal with 27.6 seconds left lifted the Maple Leafs to victory. Toronto trailed, 2-0, after the first period.
* Edmonton 4, at Phoenix 2: Raffi Torres scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 8:05 to play, and the Oilers ended a four-game losing streak.
* Detroit 4, at San Jose 2: Matt Ellis put the Red Wings ahead with his first NHL goal on a no-look backhand with 12:26 to play.
* at Calgary 4. Kings 3: The Kings have lost six of seven.
