The record industry might be singing its woes on various fronts, but pop music festival mania appears to be continuing unabated.
The 3rd Virgin Mobile Festival will put iconic rockers Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry and Iggy & the Stooges together with latter-day headliners Kanye West, Nine Inch Nails, Jack Johnson, the reunited Stone Temple Pilots and the Foo Fighters over the Aug. 9-10 weekend in Baltimore.
The lineup also includes Wilco, the Offspring, Moby, Paramore, Bloc Party, the Black Keys, Lil Wayne and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Tickets go on sale Saturday. Details on the fest’s website.
NIN and Stone Temple Pilots also will turn up in October in New Orleans for the 10th Voodoo Experience festival, along with R.E.M. and Crescent City favorites including the Neville Brothers, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Irvin Mayfield’s New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. Tickets for the three-day event, starting Oct. 24, go on sale Friday at the Voodoo Experience website.
