The moves need to be extra frisky
Fast-food chain KFC is taking a new approach to advertising for the Super Bowl: Instead of running commercials during breaks in the action, KFC wants to be part of it.
The restaurant is offering to donate $260,000 to charity in the name of any player who does a Chicken Dance celebration in the end zone.
The offer is also available to celebrity performers during pregame and halftime shows. The player or performer must perform at least three seconds of the wing-flapping portion of the well-known Chicken Dance because the $260,000 is the cost of three seconds’ worth of advertising.
Trivia time
The most famous Super Bowl dance of all time is possibly “The Super Bowl Shuffle,” performed by members of the 1985 Chicago Bears. Under what group name did they record the song?
Head games
When New England Patriots fan Victor Thompson gets dressed to cheer his team for the Super Bowl, he won’t need to look far for a hat. That’s because he had a Patriots helmet tattooed on his clean-shaven head, according to WMUR-TV in Manchester, N.H.
“It was something that popped into my head,” Thompson said in a televised interview. “I was watching the game and I said I want my head to look like Tom Brady’s helmet.”
He has had the Patriots’ logo plastered on both sides of his head and Brady’s No. 12 on the back of it.
And if the Patriots win the Super Bowl, he’s going to put a tattoo of the Lombardi Trophy on top.
The best things in life are . . .
Arash Markazi of Sports Illustrated caught up with Reggie Bush on Sunday at the Sundance Film Festival, and when asked about all the gift bags available throughout the festival, Bush acknowledged that he likes receiving gifts.
“Getting free stuff is the greatest,” he said. “They have a lot of great stuff here like watches and jewelry. I can’t believe you just walk in there and they’re giving it away for free. It’s crazy. I Iove it.”
Super bizzle
The lead-up to Super Bowl XLII will include Snoop Bowl VI.
Musician and actor Snoop Dogg announced that the annual youth football game will take place Feb. 2 at
Hamilton High School in Chandler Ariz.
It features the Snoop Dogg all-stars, a team from Southern California, against an all-star team from the Phoenix area.
Proceeds will benefit the Matt Leinart Foundation and the Arizona Cardinals quarterback will be in attendance.
But what about HBO?
Shaquille O’Neal earns nearly $2 million a month, according to a financial affidavit that is part of his divorce files obtained by ExtraTV.com.
And he spends a lot of it.
The document shows expenditures such as $22,000 in maid services, $17,000 a month on clothing, $110,000 on monthly vacations and $23,000 a month at gas stations.
But the real kicker is a $1,500 monthly cable bill.
And even that probably doesn’t get him the NFL Network.
Tall order
Kenny George, a 7-foot-7 center for North Carolina Asheville, is so tall that he doesn’t own a car because he can’t fit in one, according to Jason King of Yahoo! Sports.
On trips, the bus company has to remove two seats in the back so George can extend his legs, he has to sleep diagonally in order to fit into hotel beds, and Nike has designed a special size-28 shoe for him
“There are times I wish I wasn’t so tall,” George said.

And finally
Tony Romo has made Cosmopolitan magazine’s 2008 list of Fun Fearless Males. He appears in the February issue, in which he tells readers that being a football player is “not as glamorous as everyone thinks.”
Unless, of course, you’re hanging out in Mexico with Jessica Simpson.
