Are hybrids worth their price tag?
Autos reporter Jerry Hirsch takes a look at that question in this video and in his Los Angeles Times Business section story Sunday.
In general, he says, it takes about five years to recoup the price differential between a hybrid and a similar gas-powered vehicle.
Hirsch compares two wagons in this video, the Prius v hybrid and the Volkswagen Jetta diesel, to give an idea about the cost, comfort and driveability issues to think about before you head out to a dealer.
