UFC champ Cain Velasquez asks $1.7 million for Gilroy, Calif., estate

Mixed martial arts fighter Cain Velasquez, the UFC’s reigning heavyweight champion, has listed his estate in Gilroy, Calif., for sale at $1,699,900.
The home, built in 1999, sports designer interiors with detailed archways, columns, molding and raised ceilings throughout. Spanning more than 5,100 square feet, the single-story floor plan includes a chef’s kitchen, dining room, formal living room, office, five bedrooms and three full bathrooms. The master suite has a private sitting room and a two-way fireplace.
Grounds encompassing more than two acres include large patio spaces for entertaining, grass lawns and a playground.
Velasquez, 32, is among a number of MMA fighters who train at the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose. A former wrestling standout at Arizona State, he regained the heavyweight title with a unanimous decision over Junior Dos Santos at UFC 155.
Public records show that Velasquez and his wife, Michelle, purchased the home in March 2012 for $1.045 million. Erica Trinchero of Coldwell Banker Gilroy is the listing agent.
