Anaheim Ducks’ Clayton Stoner buys $2.025-million home in Newport Beach

Anaheim Ducks defenseman Clayton Stoner, who signed as a free agent last summer, has put down roots in Orange County with the recent purchase of a Newport Beach home for $2.025 million.

Marked by a picket fence, the two-story home was built in 1965 and recently was remodeled.

Interiors replete with stone and wood accents include an open-area living room with a wall fireplace, a step-down family room with custom built-ins and a center-island kitchen. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms within nearly 2,700 square feet of space.

Bi-folding doors off the kitchen open to a 500-square-foot outdoor living room with a wall fireplace. An outdoor fire ring and a large expanse of grass complete the grounds.

The house came on the market in January for $2.225 million, records show. It previously went for $1.395 million in 2012.

Katie Rollins of Surterre Properties was the listing agent. Jon-Paul Bell of HÔM Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer in the sale, which closed in April.

Stoner, 30, was drafted by Minnesota in 2004 and spent five seasons with the Wild before joining the Ducks last year on a four-year, $13-million free-agent contract. He had one goal and seven assists in 69 games for the Ducks this year.

Stoner previously sold a four-bedroom home in the Minneapolis area for $690,000.
