The Disney/ABC Television Group and Yahoo are expanding their partnership to include entertainment programming.
The new pact, announced by the two companies Thursday, extends their relationship for several more years and brings exclusive clips of ABC and ABC Family shows such as “Scandal,” “Dancing With the Stars” and “Pretty Little Liars” to online video streaming services Yahoo Screen and Yahoo TV.
Yahoo and ABC News have done business together since 2011. Several new elements to the relationship will be added in the new pact. Yahoo experts in health, food and beauty will join ABC’s “Good Morning America” in a daily segment under the name “Yahoo Your Day.”
Yahoo’s social media platform Tumblr will also be integrated into “Social Square” segments on “GMA.” The company’s photo-hosting site Flickr will supply pictures used in weather reports on the morning program.
ABC News President James Goldston said the Yahoo partnership enabled his division to reach 129 million unique visitors a month through computers, tablets and smartphones.
The expanded relationship is expected to more than double ABC’s online audience.
