MPAA hosts second annual Creativity Conference

Vice President Joe Biden will be among the speakers at the second annual Creativity Conference hosted today by the Motion Picture Assn. of America.
The MPAA, the lobbying group that represents the major Hollywood studios, will host the half-day conference in partnership with Microsoft and ABC News.
The event, to be held at the Newseum in Washington, will bring together leaders from government, entertainment and technology to discuss the role that creativity and innovation play in the global economy, the MPAA said.
In addition to Biden, other participants will include House Judiciary Committee Chairman Robert W. Goodlatte (R-Va.), Walt Disney Studios production president Sean Bailey, Warner Bros. executive Lisa Rawlins, Deluxe Entertainment executive William Sherak, senior Microsoft researcher Kati London and filmmaker Morgan Spurlock.
The conference will highlight how the entertainment and technology industries are working together to help drive American innovation, said MPAA Chief Executive Chris Dodd, a former U.S. senator.
“We want to create more awareness and knowledge about the contribution that innovation makes to our creative economy,” said Dodd, adding that the arts and entertainment industries contribute 3.2% to the nation’s gross domestic product.
