"Spotlight," "Beasts of No Nation," "The Big Short," "Trumbo" and "Straight Outta Compton" are the Screen Actors Guild Award nominees for cast in a motion picture. The 22nd SAG Awards will be presented on Jan. 30 on TBS and TNT.
Nominee reactions are filled with gratitude
Jacob Tremblay is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in “Room.”
Nominations for the 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced Wednesday morning, and actors and filmmakers expressed their gratitude -- and registered shock -- regarding their nominations. Check out what some of what the nominees are saying...

December movie releases get little SAG Awards love
Jennifer Lawrence in the movie JOY.
It may be the most wonderful time of the year in other ways, but movies opening on or around Christmas traditionally face a significant hurdle when it comes to landing SAG Awards nominations. Voting for this year's SAG Awards nominations closed Dec. 7, putting films opening later in December at a competitive disadvantage, and, as in years past, the nominations largely reflected that.
Hollywood loves Hollywood
Hollywood continues its love affair with Hollywood. “Trumbo,” starring Bryan Cranston and Helen Mirren, earned three Screen Actors Guild Award nominations Wednesday.
Hollywood has always loved Hollywood during awards season.
This year is no exception with "Trumbo" earning three Screen Actors Guild Award nominations Wednesday morning: ensemble, lead male actor for Bryan Cranston as blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo and female supporting actor for Helen Mirren as his archenemy, the conservative and powerful gossip columnist Hedda Hopper.

Maybe we shouldn't be surprised by Sarah Silverman's SAG Awards nomination
One of the surprises of Wednesday's SAG Awards nominations was Sarah Silverman's inclusion in the category "performance by a female actor in a leading role." But all the way back in January at Sundance, people were talking about Silverman's turn toward dramatic acting in "I Smile Back," as Times writer Amy Kaufman wrote during the Utah festival. Later, The Times' Jeffrey Fleishman spent time with Silverman and wrote this profile:

SAG Award nominations mix newcomers like 'Transparent' with old favorites 'Downton Abbey' and 'Homeland'
“Downton Abbey” is one of the TV productions to dominate the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.
Old favorites including "Downton Abbey," "Homeland" "The Big Bang Theory" and "Modern Family" dominated the television nominees for the 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards, announced Today.
For performance by an ensemble in a drama series, the members of SAG nominated last year's winner, "Downton Abbey" (PBS), along with "Homeland" (Showtime), "Mad Men" (AMC), "Game of Thrones" (HBO) and "House of Cards" (Netflix). "Mad Men," which is returning to the category after a two-year absence, is the only series that was not nominated last year.
