‘Seinfeld’ on HBO and other stunt cast reunions

Good news “Seinfeld” fans: George, Jerry, Elaine and Kramer will live to kvetch another day, just not in the way you were expecting.
At the Television Critics Assn. Summer Press Tour this week, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star (and “Seinfeld” co-creator) Larry David revealed that the foursome would be making their reunion not on NBC in a “Seinfeld” reunion special, but on HBO in a season-long arc on “Curb” about the actors reuniting to film a “Seinfeld” reunion special.
However, the “Seinfeld” crew isn’t the first TV cast to reunite in a place other than their own show. Yes, Sheriff Andy and Deputy Barney did a “Return to Mayberry,” but Andy Griffith and Don Knotts also reunited on “Matlock.” And they’re not the only ones. Here are a few you may not remember. Who? Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty guest starred together as themselves on an episode of The John Larroquette Show.
Why? The trio was portrayed living off the good old days, touring with a “Golden Girls Revue.” Since co-star Bea Arthur was unavailable, they had John Larroquette dress up as the Dorothy character for the act. (Nick Ut / Associated Press)
