Sundance 2013: IFC Films picks up ‘The Look of Love’

PARK CITY, Utah--In its third acquisition of the Sundance Film Festival, IFC Films said Sunday it has bought North American rights to director Michael Winterbottom’s “The Look of Love,” the first narrative feature to sell at the festival.
In a separate deal, HBO Documentary Films said it had bought domestic television rights to the documentary “Pussy Riot—A Punk Prayer.”
IFC previously had purchased the Sundance documentaries “The Summit” and “Dirty Wars” through its Sundance Selects subsidiary. Winterbottom’s “The Look of Love” stars Steve Coogan as adult magazine publisher Paul Raymond, who became one of Britain’s richest men at a great personal price.
The Russian “Pussy Riot” documentary follows the three young women who make up the band of the same name who were tried and sentenced to jail for religious intolerance.
In other acquisitions news, several buyers were nosing around “Austenland,” the romantic comedy about a Jane Austen fantasy camp, but no deal has been finalized.
