Barneys New York in Beverly Hills has posted signs wishing shoppers a “hippie holiday.” Creative director Simon Doonan’s groovy décor was inspired by the peace symbol’s 50th anniversary. “Our core customer is a baby boomer who has inherited parental wealth or maybe theyve made their own money but they still think of themselves as alternative, and the imagery of the counterculture still resonates with them,” Doonan says.
