Hey, Sriracha fans, here are two new wine-infused chile sauces

People can be fanatical about Sriracha, the fiery red sauce rivaling ketchup as the most popular condiment on people’s dinner tables. And winos can be even more enthusiastic and particular about their libation of choice.
It’s hard not to salivate when you hear either mentioned in conversation, but what if someone put the two together in one bottle?
Ravenswood Winery teamed up with Jolene Collins, the woman behind the Brooklyn-based Jojo’s Sriracha, to create the first wine-infused Sriracha. A Ravenswood Zinfandel chile sauce and a Ravenswood Petite Sirah chile sauce, both by Jojo’s Sriracha are now available online.
Ravenswood Winery founding winemaker Joel Peterson saw a similarity between the intricacies of the production of wine and the small-batch approach Collins takes with her hot sauces.
“The flavors of Jojo’s Sriracha reminded me of the complex, mouthwatering spiciness of Ravenswood Zinfandel,” said Peterson in a statement. “And once I met Jolene, I realized how similar our creative philosophies are.”
Collins uses a fermentation process to create her sauces, which include chile peppers, garlic, sea salt and palm sugar. For the two wine varieties, Collins blended Ravenswood wine and vinegar into her Sriracha.
The Zinfandel variety gives the same mouth feel you get from drinking a glass of strong, jammy wine. There’s the kick of the chiles on your tongue with the underlying smooth, sweet taste of ripened berries. And the spiciness of the Petite Sirah is the perfect match for the hot chiles. The taste of black pepper and just a hint of licorice make for an intense sauce you’ll want to slather on a piece of grilled meat.
The limited-edition sauces are available for $14 each or $22 each with a bottle of the Ravenswood Zinfandel or Petite Sirah.
