More than 300 galleries and dealers have convened at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium for Photo L.A., the 22nd annual photography-based art fair that is running through Monday.
Photo L.A. is more than exhibits. The schedule includes lectures on collecting, technology, “iPhoneography” and fashion photography as well as seminars devoted to architectural photography.
On Sunday, Gordon Baldwin, former curator of the photography department at the J. Paul Getty Museum, moderates a panel titled “The Architectural Photograph.” The panel, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., incudes Edward Cella of Edward Cella Art & Architecture Gallery, architect Barbara Bestor of the Julius Shulman Institute at Woodbury University, Ken Breisch of the USC School of Architecture, photographer Grant Mudford and photographer Tim Bradley, former chairman of the photography department at Art Center School of Design.
The Julius Shulman Institute will have a booth of works by its namesake as well as noted photographers Iwan Baan, Richard Barnes, Catherine Opie and Pedro Guerrero.
Admission ranges from $15 to 20 per day, or $30 to $35 for the weekend. A detailed list of all events is listed online. The event is at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main St., Santa Monica. Information: (310) 458-8551.
