In 24/7 New York, it’s now, voyeur

Visitors to the new High Line Park take strolls and chat on benches. Diane von Furstenberg and her mogul husband Barry Diller donated $5 million as seed money to build the park, and later gave another $10 million. “It’s a very nice crowd,” she noted recently while surveying the park. “There’s so much to do, so beautiful to have the sunset on the West Side at this time of day.”  (Carolyn Cole / Los Angeles Times)

The Standard Hotel has drawn recent attention. It is built over the new High Line Park in the Meatpacking district of New York. All summer, images of the Standard’s guests behaving bawdily behind their room windows spread like cyber wildfire, and the management seemed to relish the attention, even encouraging new arrivals in the lobby to go ahead and “just have fun!”  (Carolyn Cole / Los Angeles Times)
