SOCHI, Russia -- Anastasiya Kuzmina won the Olympic gold medal in the women’s 7.5-kilometer sprint Sunday, defending her title from the Vancouver Games four years ago.
The Slovakian shot flawlessly and finished in 21 minutes, 6.8 seconds for her third career Olympic medal. She also won silver in the 10K pursuit in Vancouver.
Olga Vilukhina of Russia trailed Kuzmina by 19.9 seconds to win silver, and Vita Semerenko of Ukraine was 21.7 behind for bronze.
Kuzmina is the sister of Russian biathlete Anton Shipulin, who lost his chance for a medal in the men’s 10K sprint on Saturday after missing the final target.
