German actor and writer Hardy Kruger has listed his forested retreat in Crestline for $800,000.
The 8-acre compound overlooking Lake Gregory once belonged to Hungarian horror film actor Bela Lugosi, known for playing the title role in the 1931 film “Dracula.” Kruger bought the site for his wife, Anita, and built its log home in 1980. Scenes from their time in the mountains are chronicled in his book “Wanderjahre.”
Features include an open plan kitchen, dining and living room with a fireplace and a library. There are several terraces, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a basement. A detached writer’s studio includes a fireplace, bathroom and kitchenette.
Kruger, 84, got his start in German and British films. Among his scores of film credits, he starred with John Wayne in “Hatari!” (1962).
Raphael Barragan of Engel & Volkers has the listing.
