A tire bouncing on the northbound 110 Freeway struck a car early Wednesday, punching a hole through its windshield and injuring the driver, authorities said.
The car was struck shortly after 6 a.m. near the 10 Freeway connector not long after the California Highway Patrol got reports of tires bouncing in the southbound lanes.
It was not immediately clear how the tire ended up on the freeway, CHP Officer Jennifer Cassidy said.
The driver suffered minor injuries, she added.
A SigAlert was issued for the freeway after officials had to close several lanes to clear the scene.
