Brush fire burns in Santa Clarita Valley; no homes threatened

More than 100 firefighters were battling a three-acre brush fire Monday evening in the Santa Clarita Valley, authorities said.
The fire in the 24000 block of Magic Mountain Parkway was reported just before 4 p.m., said Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Rick Flores.
As of 7 p.m., the fire was 100% contained but not completely knocked down, he said. The single-alarm blaze was confined to the wash of the San Francisquito Creek, near where the 5 Freeway crosses Magic Mountain Parkway, Flores said.
One inmate firefighter suffered a minor injury.
Because the fire was contained in the wash, no structures were threatened, although several apartment complexes were located nearby.
No evacuations were ordered, Flores said.
