Homeless man found dead with a stab wound in Long Beach

Long Beach homicide detectives are investigating the death of a homeless man discovered with a stab wound early Saturday.
The man, who has not been named pending notification of next of kin, was found near East Anaheim Street and Dawson Avenue.
Police responded to a 5:27 a.m. call from the Long Beach Fire Department, which confirmed his death. No other details were available.
Marlene Arrona, Long Beach police spokeswoman, said homicide investigators and patrol officers combed the area for evidence Saturday.
No suspect has been apprehended and no motive is known.

According to the Homicide Report, The Times’ online database, there have been seven other slayings within one mile of Saturday’s incident in the past 12 months.
