LAPD officer suspected of smuggling a person across U.S.-Mexico border

A Los Angeles Police Department officer was arrested by federal authorities on suspicion of smuggling a person across the U.S.-Mexico, a source said.
The officer was taken into custody at the border after a person was found inside a vehicle driven by the officer, a source confirmed to The Times.
The officer’s identity and the division to which he’s assigned are unclear.
