Dozens in Long Beach protest fatal police shootings

Dozens of demonstrators rallied outside police headquarters and other locations in downtown Long Beach on Saturday to protest recent fatal shootings by police.
About 70 protesters gathered just before noon at Lincoln Park and marched through the civic center for several hours, Long Beach Police Officer Claudia Lopez said.
Some of the protesters disrupted traffic by stepping into the streets, but there were no arrests or street closures. “It concluded without major incident,” Lopez said.
The protest included demonstrators from Black Lives Matter and the Youth Justice Coalition, who criticized police over fatal shootings in recent months. The latest was on May 27, when Long Beach Police Police Officer Matthew Hernandez fatally shot Feras Morad, an unarmed 20-year-old college student, after what police described as a “physical struggle.”
The incident was the fourth officer-involved shooting this year in Long Beach.
