A Los Angeles County sheriff’s sergeant shot a man who brandished a weapon Monday evening near the Metro Orange Line busway in Lake Balboa, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 5:50 p.m. near Victory Boulevard and Woodley Avenue, said sheriff’s Transit Service Bureau spokesman Ramon Montenegro.
It’s unclear what weapon the man brandished, and officials did not disclose how many shots the sergeant fired.
The wounded man was being treated at the scene by paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department, sheriff’s Deputy Amber Smith said.
The sheriff’s sergeant was not injured in the shooting.
