After police were alerted and relatives’ fears aroused, an Orange County couple in their 80s has been found safe in the city they set out for: Las Vegas.
Carl and Theresa Tarantino had apparently left for Vegas from their Laguna Woods home last week but didn’t inform relatives of their plans. And they couldn’t be reached by cellphone, because they don’t have cellphones. They are 83 and 88, respectively.
A daughter who lives nearby came to their home Friday and saw their car was gone. When they didn’t return, she notified authorities.
On Monday, a relative of told Orange County sheriff’s deputies that a motel employee in Las Vegas had called them to report that the couple was staying there.
The elder Tarantinos were uninjured, Lt. Jeff Hallock said, though they appeared a bit confused.
Family was en route Monday to Las Vegas to reunite with the couple, Hallock said.
