Three people are dead and four others wounded in an apparent drive-by shooting outside a Stockton convenience store Tuesday night, authorities said.
According to Stockton police spokesman Joe Silva, the shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m. outside a store near Madison and Park streets near downtown Stockton.
A woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police tweeted, and another woman and a man later died at the hospital.
Silva said four others were injured, and that “several” of the victims were taken to area hospitals in critical condition.
There are no suspects in custody, and no suspect or vehicle description had been released, Silva said. Investigators were still interviewing witnesses late Tuesday.
Police have cordoned off the area around the store, Silva said, and homicide investigators and gang detectives are on scene.
The area surrounding the market is known for gang activity, Silva said.
