Development in our urban centers has pushed out many essential businesses such as dry cleaners, locksmiths, upholsterers etc. needed by urban dwellers. These businesses add texture and a much-needed human scale to shiny, anonymous high-rises. (“Downtown L.A. carwash owner cleans up in sale estimated at $25 million,” May 8)
