Readers React: The courage of Kayla Mueller

To the editor: I was a doubter of the many persons who sacrificed their lives in the name of humanity — and now, no more. (“Kayla Mueller was among hostages U.S. commandos tried to rescue,” Feb. 10)
Thanks to Kayla Mueller, I now better understand what it takes to do what she and many others like her do every day, while the rest of the world ignores the plight of the people caught up in the Islamic State world.
I don’t pretend to know how to solve this problem, but I will keep the memory of Kayla close to my heart.
