Readers React: Thanks, Dodgers and Time Warner Cable, for barely anything

To the editor: On Sunday afternoon I watched the Dodgers clobber the Colorado Rockies. The score was lopsided, the game meant nothing as to the playoffs (since the Dodgers had clinched their division crown on Wednesday), most of the starting players were benched relatively early in the game to avoid injuries that could have left them out of the playoffs, and there were a couple of good football games on other channels. (“For KDOC-TV, Dodger deal with Time Warner Cable is big windfall,” Sept. 26)
Why did I watch the game? To hear the play-by-play, stories, season recap and baseball wisdom of Vin Scully.
Thank you to whoever is responsible for giving us this gift — broadcasting the final six games on free TV, as opposed to Time Warner Cable’s own channel, which is unavailable to most of L.A. — for the last two series of the season. And curse you for depriving us the rest of the season.
