Opinion: Did Trump supporters in Bakersfield vote to repeal their own healthcare?
To the editor: The op-ed aritcle by Sen. Ed Hernandez (D-West Covina) touched on the irony that the Bakersfield area is among the reddest in the state and likely to be among the hardest hit when the Affordable Care Act is repealed.
But Hernandez did not go far enough. The three individuals cited in the piece told of their healthcare-related fears with the upcoming repeal. Was each asked if he or she voted for President Trump?
I cannot understand how the very people who will be the hardest hit by Trump’s plans are the ones who support him.

To the editor: If those mentioned in the article were to lose their coverage with repeal of the Affordable Care Act, I would imagine a compassionate state like California would step up and keep them covered under Medi-Cal instead of spending money on less important things — like, oh, you know, a bullet train or something.
