South Laguna Community Garden Park officials will hold a free public workshop focused on insects and their impacts on gardens at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Lucian Toma, public program director at the San Juan Capistrano-based Ecology Center, will discuss ways to “incorporate ecological design features, create habitats for beneficial insects, and use companion planting to ward off pests,” according to a news release.
The nonprofit educational center promotes environmental stewardship with hands-on activities.
Toma’s talk will be the third in the garden workshop series. Residents tend 53 raised-bed plots, growing a variety of produce throughout the year at the garden park, located on the corner of Eagle Rock Way and South Coast Highway.
Donations are welcome. Interested attendees may RSVP by emailing [email protected].
