Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts MMET students put on a spirited rendition of “I’ll Be There For You” by the Rembrandts during the Huntington Beach High graduation on Tuesday.
Blake Bennett, Caley Guth, Macie Manzo, Nicholas Matusoff, Spencer McDonald, Alexis Pitt, Kyle Schuesler and Derek Tonel performed the tune.
The song is the theme song for the TV show “Friends,” and friends is what the 720 graduating seniors hope to remain in the future as they go their separate ways.

Tuesday’s ceremony took place on-campus at Cap Sheue Field. After Claire Lewis led graduation attendees in the pledge of allegiance, they heard from senior speakers Grace Ng, who was ASB president, and senior speech winner Stella Scott.
Principal Daniel Morris presented the graduates before Lorena Acuña, Beth Lammers, Claudia Valerio-Giese and Christina Flowers took turns announcing their names. Huntington Beach Union High School District officials Owen Crosby and Anil Muhammed handed out the diplomas.
