It’s on to the Section Tournament for Solid Gold, which won two games
last weekend to wrap up an Area 11-K tournament championship.
The boys’ Under-10 Division squad out of Region 117 defeated Region
55, 3-1, then ended their tournament run with a 4-2 decision over Region
56. They finished the tournament with a 10-0 record.
Against Region 55, Michael Chairez scored twice and recorded an assist
on a score by Joel Antista. Juan-Carlos Rodriguez also had an assist.
Against Region 56 Antista scored by heading the ball into the net off
a corner kick by Lucas Vandeman. Drew Russell scored once and Kevin
Kuwahara capped the scoring with a pair of goals.
Kyle Day and Trevor Warren shared net duties and Brandon Messer came
up with a key defensive save. Vandeman, Jonathan Crouch and Ryan Little
also starred defensively, while Antista, Russell, and Alec Stone
controlled the midfield.
Solid Gold will play in the Section Tournament, scheduled for later
