Boys tennis: CdM tops Uni, 12-6

CORONA DEL MAR - Senior standout Brian Morton, headed for UCI next
year, swept at No. 1 singles for Corona del Mar High, while the No. 2
doubles team of Garrett Snyder and Randy Myers also swept, as the host
Sea Kings defeated University, 12-6, in a Pacific Coast League boys
tennis match Tuesday.
“(The Trojans) will be a lot tougher next time,” CdM Coach Tim Mang
said, referring to the fact that Uni (8-4, 3-1 in PCL) was missing its
top player, Aaron Yovan.
CdM (9-0, 4-0), ranked No. 1 in Orange County, will host Woodbridge
today in a nonleague match.
Corona del Mar 12, University 6 Singles - Morton (CdM) def. Li, 7-6, def. Lawrence, 6-3, def. Haier,
6-2; Ralet (CdM) lost 0-6, 0-6, 2-6; Ball (CdM) lost 6-7, won 6-0, 6-1.
Doubles - Kulmaticki-Bean (CdM) lost to Hsu-Chen, 6-7, def.
Nguyen-Joe, 6-2, def. Kim-Scott, 6-0; Snyder-Myers (CdM) won 6-3, 6-0,
6-0; Wadhwa-Stockwell (CdM) lost 1-6, won 6-3, 7-5.
